Purse, Binder or Backpack?
By Kylianne Philip
Staff Reporter March 9, 2018 Any student at DeLand High School has seen students using different materials to carry around their books. The most common materials are purses, binders and backpacks.
Purses are less common than binders and backpacks, but still seen a lot. A lot of people who use purses also have a binder to keep individual papers organized. The purses are usually big, so notebooks and textbooks can fit inside. A lot of the students who use purses tend to have less classes or books. Backpacks are probably the most commonly used because a lot of students need to carry various items. Backpacks make it easier when you have a lot of textbooks and notebooks. The downside to backpacks is that they can be heavy and start to hurt your shoulders or back. They can also be annoying to lug around, but they do make it easier to keep all schoolwork organized. Binders are used individually or with backpacks and purses. It is difficult to keep everything organized and together in a binder if you have a full seven classes at the high school. For dual enrolled students, though, a binder may be easier than a backpack because they are only here for a short period of time. By using dividers and tabs, you can keep a binder organized and keep track of paperwork easily. It is definitely the simplest and cheapest option out of the three, but it has some downsides. The one thing you must keep in mind with a binder is that you will most likely have to clean it out every other week or so. If you don't, you will end up with a lot of clutter and unnecessary papers. Binders can become hard to manage, but it depends on the amount of papers and books you have. If you choose to use one of these three items, remember you don't have to use it the entire year. I have tried all three options multiple times and chose to use a backpack because it worked easiest for me. Use whatever item you prefer and whatever works best for you. Whether you use a backpack, binder or purse, they all have the same purpose-to help you carry around your school materials. They all have positives and negatives, but ultimately the decision is up to you. |
