How to get rid of Writer's BlockBy Lauren Bjella
Staff Reporter March 10, 2017 No matter what you’re writing about, writer’s block can put a barrier in your path to success.
Everyone has experienced writer’s block at some point in time – whether it’s while writing an essay, writing your life story or writing a script for your drama class. Whether or not writing comes naturally to you isn’t the issue – it happens to everyone and everyone needs to write something at some point in his or her academic career. Writer’s block can cause an abundance of frustration, and maybe even cause you to pull out your hair, so here are some tips to help you break through that torturous curse. 1. Create an outline of what you are writing. Having step by step of what you are writing can help layout your thoughts without having to structure your sentences at that moment. 2. Go outside. Going outside and just walking around, laying in the grass or riding a bike, can let your mind roam free away from stress and you can get some fresh air while you’re at it. Also, being around nature can spark ideas. 3. Rest your brain. Maybe you’re tired. Maybe something else is on your mind. Whatever it is that’s blocking you clearly needs time; so let your mind work it out by resting and relaxing. You can get back to writing when you’re recharged and the block has removed itself from the equation. 4. Draw. Take a piece of paper and pencil and just move it around creating something. Even if you are not an artist whatsoever or your picture looks awful, maybe it can spark some inspiration. 5. Go to the mall. Going to a place full of people and events can spark an idea to get your story going. Also, shopping can take your mind off of the burning pressure and stress of writing with writer’s block. Finding the right tip to get rid of your writer’s block can take a while, but once you find your cure to the curse, you will be writing your story or essay in no time. |
