Test Scores, Essays And Resumes Oh My!

Opinion November 8, 2017 With college applications being due soon, seniors are emerged in the craziness that is applying to colleges.
The college admissions process now requires more time, money and psychic energy than ever before. These applications are causing high school seniors to go into panic mode, which doesn’t help their personal life with grades and extracurriculars that they are trying to keep up while constantly freaking out over their future. One of the reasons kids are stressing out over college applications, besides the fact that they determine their future, is the fact that colleges want a well-rounded student. They want someone with perfect grades, leadership roles, extracurriculars and the whole nine yards. This scares students because they already have so much on their plates and this application just adds more to it. Along with the application itself, students also have to take the SAT or the ACT. Most students in the south only take the SAT, as it is more prominently used by colleges, but for those going out of state and up north for college, taking the ACT is a smart decision. These tests cause even more stress in this college application process, and students end up taking them an abundance of times to get the score they want to send to the colleges they are applying to. With the stress also comes lots of money; parents are spending on these tests, along with the money to even apply for college. Even through the stress with college applications, the outcome will be worth all of the craziness in store for the next couple of months, so think of all the wonderful things that comes with going to college. |
