The Los Angeles Lakers star player Kobe Bryant is still out after tearing his Achilles’ tendon in his left foot last season as the Lakers begin their new season.
Bryant underwent Achilles surgery last season in April and his initial timeline was set at 6 to 9 months.
He told reporters two weeks ago that he would need at least three weeks of conditioning before he was ready to go and play the season opener.
Bryant spent some of his offseason wearing a boot after his season ending surgery. In August, he was cleared to run on a treadmill and his training was advanced to jogging.
In order for Kobe to make his return, he has to make sure he can do all the small stuff, like jogging on his own and being able to shoot the ball.
Kobe will be back at some point early in the season. When he returns we’ll see how he performs and how long it’ll take him to shake off the rust. This Lakers team cannot afford to fall behind early in the season if their goal still remains to make playoffs and compete in the Western Conference.
