James Harrison wants to playBy Madi Smith
Press Crew March 3, 2015 Many NFL players retire after their 12th season and they are normally around 35 years old, but this isn’t true for 36 year old James Harrison.
Former Steelers Linebacker Harrison who previously retired after he left the Cincinnati Bengals wants to play again in the upcoming season. Harrison left the Bengals at the end of the 2013- 2014 season and signed a one-day contract with Pittsburgh so he could retire as a Steeler. He played 10 seasons for the Steelers, one season for the Ravens, and one season for the Bengals. Well Harrison didn't stop there. When the Pittsburgh Steelers’ youngest linebackers, 25 year old Jarvis Jones and 22 year old Ryan Shazier, were both injured and did not return to the football field this season. Harrison decided to sign with Pittsburgh and fill the emptiness on the team and then he would retire at the end of the season. He completed the season with nice records; 29 solo tackles and 5.5 sacks in 11 games. Pittsburgh finished the season 11-5 and won the AFC North title. According to Nfl.com, Harrison posted on his twitter “ I decided to hold off on retirement, so it's time to pack up and head to AZ to start my training…” He also posted a picture on his Instagram of him working out in Arizona. According to NBC Sports, if Harrison wants to play for his former linebackers coach, Dick LeBeau, who now is defense coordinator with Tennessee Titans, he will have to wait until March 10. If Harrison wants to play for the Steelers he will have to wait until after March 10. Now the question is: will Harrison play with his Steeler family or will he go with his former Steeler coach? |
