Baseball's in Full Swing!By Jimari Troupe
Press Crew April 14, 2015 Strike three, you’re out! That phrase will be heard a lot more now that spring training is over and baseball is in full swing.
The baseball season took off on opening night on April 5, featuring the rivalry of the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs, the game ending in a 3-0 score with the Cardinals winning. The games continued into April 6, for the actual opening day. Here are some of the scores from the day: Toronto Blue Jays 6 New York Yankees 0 Minnesota Twins 0 Detroit Tigers 4 Colorado Rockies 10 Milwaukee Brewers 0 Boston Red Sox 6 Philadelphia Phillies 0 Baltimore Oriolers 6 Tampa Bay Rays 2 New York Mets 3 Washington Nationals 1 Chicago White Sox 1 Kansas City Royals 10 Los Angeles Angels 1 Seattle Mariners 4 Pittsburgh Pirates 2 Cincinnati Reds 5 San Diego Padres 3 Los Angeles Dodgers 6 Atlanta Braves 2 Miami Marlins 1 San Francisco Giants 6 Arizona Diamondbacks 7 Texas Rangers 3 Oakland Athletics 1 The biggest storyline coming into opening day was the Red Sox game as they faced the Phillies as it was rumored all offseason that the Red Sox was in the market for the Phillie’s star left handed pitcher Cole Hamels. As trade talks went on all offseason and when the Phillies price tag was too high those rumors ceased. So there was a thought of bad blood or tension between the two teams as they took the diamond on April 6, as you saw in the score recap the Red Sox took it to the Phillies beating them 6-0. As baseball continues to rage on everyone will be trying to make it to the World Series. |
