After five months of constant action and entertainment from some of the best athletes in the world, the NBA season is finally winding down with a playoff race that will definitely not disappoint.
The top two teams in both the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference isn’t much of a surprise, as they found themselves in a similar position last season. Currently, the Miami Heat are battling the Indiana Pacers for the top seed in the East, while the San Antonio Spurs are battling the Oklahoma City Thunder for the top seed in the West.
The Spurs, who are coming off a recent 16 game win streak, look to be the favorite to obtain the best record in the NBA and hold home field advantage throughout the playoffs, but this seems to be of little importance to most spectators as long as these four teams are the final teams standing when the conference finals round comes around.
On the other side of the spectrum the Atlanta Hawks, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns are peeking their heads outside the playoff bubble as they stand a few games back from the eighth seed in their perspective conference. For the New York Knicks, who currently hold a slight lead above the Hawks in the eighth seed, finally making it into playoff contention is relieving for the team. Despite this, holding the eighth seed is more than disappointing after the fantastic season that they had this previous year and the Knicks will definitely have to work hard if they hope to not be bumped down by the Hawks.
With the season continuing to wind down, its conclusion is definitely going to be exciting, but regardless of who finishes on top, we can be sure that the playoffs won’t fail to blow us away.
