One is a long-held tradition, the other a modern invention, and the question remains, which one is better?
The new fad of e-readers does have its pros. E-readers are able to download apps as well as books instantly. Plus e-reader screens light up, making it possible to read in the dark.
The cons of an e-reader are just as easily found. E-readers are pretty much tablets, so keeping focused is a much more difficult challenge. E-readers also need to be charged, so if one runs out of battery in the middle of a book, you have to plug it in before you can continue reading.
Books are said to be a dying tradition but no one can deny that the feeling of a book in your hand is exhilarating. The smell of a new book is so completely unique, an e-reader can hardly hope to compare.
Paperbacks also don’t break when you sit on them, so you don’t have to worry about something malfunctioning and losing all your precious books.
However, the age of print does appear to be coming to an end. Everything a person could possibly want can be found online, so having all your books be digital might eventually end up being a smart idea.
Is it the end of an era, or are e-readers just a passing trend? It is up to you, as a part of the next generation, to decide.
